What are 1, 2 and 3-drop earrings?

Many beaded earrings are a triangle on top of a straight body: the top starts with a single bead and widens until it reaches the full width, then the body runs straight down, often ending in fringe.

The drop count sets how steep that top is. A 1-drop top adds a bead every row, for a wide, short triangle. A 2-drop top adds one every two rows and a 3-drop top every three, for a longer, narrower point. In Wevy each one is its own grid outline, so the shape is right before you place a bead.

What an earring chart is for

  • Pairs. Mirror or repeat a design so both earrings match bead for bead.

  • Fringe and tassel earrings. A shaped top over a long straight body.

  • Small collections. Several colorways of one shape to sell or gift.

How Wevy handles earrings

The shape comes first

Pick 1, 2 or 3 drops and the stepped outline is laid out for you; beads outside it stay dimmed.

Color for both

Draw one earring, copy it beside the first, then recolor for a new set.

Real beads

Catalog colors with photo-matched finishes, with counts for the pair.

Beaded earring pattern questions

What does 1-drop, 2-drop or 3-drop mean here?

It's how many rows the earring's top takes to widen by one bead. 1-drop steps every row, 2-drop every second row, 3-drop every third row, so a higher number gives a longer, narrower top.

How wide should an earring be?

The earring grids start 8 beads wide with a 20-row body. Change both to suit your bead size and the length you want.

Can I add fringe?

Yes. Extend the chart below the body and draw each fringe strand bead by bead.

Are the earring grids free?

The 1-drop earring grid is part of the Free plan. The 2-drop and 3-drop grids come with Hobby.
