Turn a photo into a bead pattern

The image is scaled down so each bead covers one patch of pixels, using the bead shape of the chosen stitch so the chart keeps the photo's proportions. Similar colors are grouped into the number of colors you choose, and each group is matched to the nearest opaque bead in the selected catalog set. Everything runs in your browser; the image is not uploaded.

Example: a pet portrait on a loom
A square photo at 50 beads wide on a loom becomes a 50 × 42 chart, since loom beads are a little taller than wide. With 12 Preciosa 10/0 colors that is about 2,100 beads, or roughly 23 g.

Simple images with strong contrast: logos, illustrations, pets or faces cropped close. Busy backgrounds turn into noise at bead resolution, so crop tight and remove the background if you can. Transparent areas of a PNG are left empty.

For a bracelet, 10–25 beads. For a wall piece or a detailed portrait, 60–120. More width keeps more detail but takes longer to make; use the preview and hold it to compare with the original.

Start around 8–12. Fewer colors give cleaner areas that are easier to follow; more colors keep gradients in faces and skies but mean more bead tubes to buy.
