A 3D peyote ball is a beaded ornament made from flat peyote faces zipped together into a sphere. Two shapes are common: thirty diamonds meeting five at a time at the poles, the shape of most beaded Christmas balls, and twenty triangles forming an icosahedron.
Peyote fits both almost exactly, which is why they exist. A bead on the edge of a face is the same bead as the one on its neighbour, so the faces share their seams instead of overlapping.

Diamond or triangle: which should I choose?
The 30-diamond ball is the shape of most beaded Christmas balls and gives each diamond its own motif. The 20-triangle ball is rounder in outline and works well with all-over patterns.
How big will the ball be?
Set the number of beads across a face. More beads give a larger ball and room for more detail.
Is this the same as a bead crochet ball?
No. A peyote ball is stitched from flat faces; a bead crochet ball is one crocheted spiral over a core. Wevy has a separate grid for each.
