A 3D peyote star is made of identical "warped squares": circular peyote worked outward from a four-bead ring, with herringbone pairs at the corners. Four corners pull more than a flat circle can hold, so each square bends into a saddle shape on its own.
Zipped together, the squares form a puffy star whose rays each have a front and a back face. Wevy lays those faces out in two bands, front and back, so you design the star as it will be seen.
