Cubic right angle weave pieces
What is cubic right angle weave?
Cubic right angle weave (CRAW) turns right angle weave into a solid: six rings of four close into a cube of twelve beads, four on the front, four on the back and four pillars between them. A single row of cubes is already a square rope, so even one unit wide the piece has depth.
Each cube after the first is built on a face that is already there. From the base ring you add the four walls, 3-2-2-1 beads, and the last wall closes the top, so the next cube in a chain needs only eight new beads. In Ukrainian it is called об'ємне плетіння хрестиком.
Twelve beads to a cube, built on the one before
- 1
Base ring. Four beads, or the face of the cube before.
- 2
Walls. Three, two, two and one bead around the base.
- 3
Closed. The last wall shuts the top: the next cube starts there.
What a cubic right angle weave chart is for
Square ropes. Bracelets and necklaces from a single column of cubes.
Keychains. Flowers, letters and hearts with real thickness.
Figures and boxes. Cubes stacked front to back for dice and small shapes.
How Wevy handles cubic right angle weave
Every bead of every cube
Front, back and the layers between sit side by side, with pillars at the corners, end-on as you see them.
A solid 3D preview
Turn the piece around: walls, pillars and colours sit exactly where the chart puts them.
Cubes in one tap
Tap the middle of a unit to place a whole cube, or take it out without breaking its neighbours.
Made wall by wall
Make mode lists the base ring and walls 3-2-2-1 for every cube, only the beads it adds.
Cubic right angle weave questions
How many beads are in one CRAW cube?
Twelve: four on the front, four on the back and four pillars joining them. Cubes share faces, so the next cube in a chain adds eight and a cube leaning on two neighbours as few as five.
How do I read a cubic right angle weave chart?
Wevy draws the front, the back and any layers between side by side. Beads drawn across lie flat, beads drawn down stand upright, and the round beads at the corners are pillars seen end-on.
What is a square rope in beading?
A square rope is one column of cubic right angle weave: a solid, four-sided rope for bracelets and necklaces.
Can I make 3D figures with CRAW?
Yes. Set the depth up to 16 cubes and paint each layer, or tap the middle of a unit to place a whole cube.
Which plan includes cubic right angle weave?
The cubic grid comes with Hobby and Pro. Flat right angle weave is part of the Free plan.
